We listen to music in the operating room. Quite often it has a calming affect in a tense situation. My ipod has playlists geared for each surgeon. From rock to county and classical. Can you guess what my favorite is Mitch?

If you are told not to eat or drink after midnight prior to lab tests or a procedure, don't eat or drink anything after midnight. Especially if you have already done your bowel prep.

Okay ma'am we need you to move over to the bed from the stretcher. You can't move and need us to move you? Oh, I'm sorry. Are you confined to a wheelchair? No! So you walked into the hospital and became an invalid as soon as you crossed the threshold.

If you are having outpatient surgery or a procedure that requires sedation, don't schedule anything for that day. You cannot work in 9 holes of golf or attend the grand kids soccer game. Face it, the day is shot.
We have a gobbler an about a dozen hens that walk through the neighborhood. There is one hen that is out every morning not eating but just looking around. I've named her Henrietta but I just don't know. She never seems to be eating but is just observing what's going on. I think she is a shifter!!
